Blackpink is the Revolution

Jisoo, Lisa, Jennie and Rose, surely you are already familiar with these names. They are members of a vocal group called Blackpink from South Korea. There is one other unique thing from their country which is interesting to discuss besides the music, that is the Naming Tradition.

Naming in their country uses clans (just like some local customs in Indonesia). Unlike Indonesia, they put the name of the clan as their first name, followed by Given’s name as the nickname. Like Kim Jisoo, it means that she is from a Kim family or surnamed Kim. The aim is to maintain their family tree. With the use of the clan, Koreans can trace who he or she comes from.

Well, what if women get married, will they use the husband's clan? in Korea, even if the marriage, the family clan that the woman carried also did not change.

For example, Pranpriya Manoban (Lisa) is married to a man with a surname Park, they don't necessarily add the name Park in front of her name. Lisa will still use her real name.

This also happens not only in South Korea but in North Korea too. So if I marry Lisa, do you think she is gonna put my surname as her first name? I don't think so, because I don't have surname (hehehehe😂😂).

Have you ever thought the meaning of a name? Name is a prayer, identity and property that will attached to a person. A thing which you always fill first when you have a formulir. A thing which you always say first when you introducing yourself or meet someone new. A simple thing which you always bring wherever you are even at your grave.

I am Titus Hadiwiguna, yeah it’s kind of weird name especially for Indonesian. There are plenty of people made fun with my first name. Year after year, I've been thinking to change my first name until my parent told me why they naming me with that name. Ti for Tiga (three) because I’m the thrid child and Tus for Agustus (August) because I was born in August. They gave it reasonly and meaningly. Besides, there are so many problems in life and I just bothering myself about changing my name, I mean I could, but why would I want to?  But severus snape it’s good actually (wkwk I just love the character).

Talk about Severus Snape, I do love watching movies. I’ve seen a lot of movies especially western movies to increase my English skills. Many characters in the movies that I adore, such as Walter Mitty. Walter Mitty is fictional character from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty movie, created by James Thurber who daydreams about his adventures and triumphs. Therefore, if I have a child especially a boy, I would love to name him with that name. Also, there are my favorite english names from the westren movies, for the male are Four from The Divergent Trilogy, Harry from Harry Potter Movie series and Greg from Diary of A Wimpy Kid Movie series. For the females are Chloë Grace Moretz (my celebrity crush), Tris from The Divergent Trilogy and Katniss from The Hunger Games Movie series.

As a conclusion, everything happens for a reason even regarding your name, but the hardest thing about “everything happens for a reason” is waiting for that reason to show up.
