Comparison of two jornals: Result

The journals:
1.      The Effect of Song and Movie on High School Students Language Achievement in Dehdasht
2.      The Effect of Using Songs On Young Learners and Their Motivation for Learning English

Both of journals are aim to identify and examine the effect of media in the classroom. The first journal talk about the effect of Song and Movie as a stimulus to enhance students' learning. To achieve the purpose of the study, the following research question will be addressed: To what extent do song and movie affect language achievement of high school students? If so, on what components and skills of language do they exert more effect?. The second journal is talk about the effect of using songs in english lessons. One key factor is that children are not aware of the fact that they are learning through songs, and therefore they see them as a pleasant and fun part of English lessons. Apart from this, songs serve as a good source of pronunciation, intonation, and accent practice, but also as a practice of listening skills and vocabulary development.

In the first journal tells that “The most important reason for using songs in the classroom would be to bring students into contact with authentic language.”
There is a relation between linguistics and musicology as songs have both the communicative feature of language and the entertaining feature of music. Songs have rhythmic and melodic content representing a specific form of communication in a linguistic sense. The use of songs in the foreign language classrooms reflects the inherent rhythmic nature of life (Razmjoo, 2012).

There are some benefits relates to using movie in the classroom. The first is relates to motivation. Films about issues that draw the learners' interest can affect their motivation to learn. When they are watching films, they can learn language components such as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation. Second, the movies help the learners' comprehension by enabling them to listen to exchanges and see such visual supports as facial expression and gestures simultaneously, which may improve their insights into the topic of the conversations. In real life, unless they are speaking on the telephone or listening to the radio, such visual supports are present to accompany the verbal exchanges, so the existence of facial expression and gestures in the movies can simulate the dialogues in real situations. In addition to the visual supports the films also provide exposures to the language uttered in authentic settings.

In the second journal provides the benefits for using songs in englis classes.
Griffee (1988) identified the following reasons:
1.     Songs and music lower anxiety. If they are introduced in the early years of language learning, songs and music tend to create enjoyable, anxiety-free environment.
2.      Songs are useful for teaching vocabulary.
3.      Songs serve as an excellent listening material.
4.    Songs can be used as supplemental texts in the end of the lesson, on special occasions or as an additional component for vocabulary development.
5.      Songs and music can be used to support grammar presentation, practice and revision.
6.      Songs and music bring various cultures into the classroom.
In conslusion, the goal of both journals is find the creative way to teach young leaners that is with using media. The using of songs and movies could be a useful media in english learning.

two journals comparison

In this article I would like to explain about the similarities and the differences of two journal that I’ve read.

▪️Similarities
The journals have same goal that they want to deliver through it.
In first journal stated that “In order to maintain student’s interest in language learning when English is not seen as an important factor for their needs, teachers have to find creative ways to teach language and expand student’s motivation to learn.”

In the second journal stated that “In order to do this, it is necessary to create an atmosphere that resembles the one which is natural to children. One of the best ways to create such a natural, anxiety-free environment is through interesting activities.”

▪️Differences
In the first journal, it mentioned the method of the research not like the second journal it doesn’t mention the method of the research.

In the second journal only talk about the effect of the song not like In the first journal, it could seen from the title the context not only talk about song also movie.

I Read An Educational Journal: Method

This article is going to tell about the method that this journal use for the research.

The author made questionnaire and gave to the participants. The participants were male and female students (age 15 to 17) in an English language institute in a small town in the south west of Iran. There were 30 girls and 30 boys in four classes. They were required to take English courses for three hours per week. The students had 3-5 years of English education in secondary school. Before taking the tests, they were told that scores on the tests would be regarded as part of their class work grade. This encouraged them to participate more seriously in the experiments.

The materials used in this study were a pre-post test and a researcher-made questionnaire. The pre and the post test were the same to reach valid and reliable results and the aim was to determine how much the students will be achieved after the treatment. In order to homogenize the participants, pre-test as the first reliable and efficient instruments was used at the very beginning of the course. Then at the end of the course, after the validity and reliability of the questionnaire was assessed by the experts, it was given to students, in order to know students' preferences about the strategies developed in class. The validity of the questionnaire was accepted by some university professors and experienced English teachers.

The data was collected through a pre test, post test and a researcher-made questionnaire. After conducting the study, collecting the required data and gathering the questionnaire, data was statistically analyzed using Frequency, Percentage, Likert Scale, mean and t-test. A comparison between male and female was conducted to see whether there was any difference in terms of gender in the use of popular culture or not and whether there was any differences between two groups (Experimental group and Control group).

The aim of this study was to identify and examine the effect of Song and Movie as a stimulus to enhance students' learning. To achieve the purpose of the study, the following research question will be addressed: To what extent do song and movie affect language achievement of high school students? If so, on what components and skills of language do they exert more effect?

I Read An Education Journal: Theory

The reasons why the researcher do this research because these two things (songs and movies) are importance and has role in language teaching. (Rosova, 2007) claimed that songs have a place in the classroom for helping create a friendly and co-operative atmosphere for language learning, but they can offer much more. He also mentioned the idea that songs are effective tools in education. According to (Razmjoo, 2012), there is a relation between linguistics and musicology as songs. And the other theory about the impact of songs in teanching learning from Kanel and Lowe.

Non – verbal communication is comprised of such things as gestures, expression, posture, and dress. There are some benefits relates to using movie in the classroom. The first is relates to motivation. When they are watching films, they can learn language components such as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation. Second, the movies help the learners' comprehension by enabling them to listen to exchanges and see such visual supports as facial expression and gestures simultaneously, which may improve their insights into the topic of the coversations. In real life, unless they are speaking on the telephone or listening to the radio, such visual supports are present to accompany the verbal exchanges, so the existence of facial expression and gestures in the movies can simulate the dialogues in real situations.

In addition to the visual supports the films also provide exposures to the language uttered in authentic settings (Stempleski,1992; Telatnik and Kruse, 1982). The most convincing argument for using film in the classroom is the motivation it provides the students (Baltova, 2000; Lin , 2002). Films also provide a context for language learning to take place by reinforcing what students would learn in the classroom in a dramatized , authentic prduction (Brinton , 1991; Gebhard, 1996).

The Effect of Song and Movie on High School Students Language Achievement in Dehdasht

A journal written by Hamid Reza Haghverdi from English Language Departement, Islamic Azad University, Isfahan(Khorasgan) branch.

Based on the title we know that this journal is going to tell about the effect of song and movie to encourage students to learn English. The researcher do this research in one of city in Iran, Dehdasht. The reason why this journal was made is, it seems like  English is not seen as an important factor for their needs. In Iran, Learning students are not satisfied with their abilities in English after studying it for several years in their school.  In order to maintain student’s interest in language learning,  teachers have to find creative ways to teach language and expand student’s motivation to learn.

This journal aims to identify and examine the effect of Song and Movie as a stimulus to enhance students' learning. To achieve the purpose of the study, the following research question will be addressed: To what extent do song and movie affect language achievement of high school students? If so, on what components and skills of language do they exert more effect?

Reading My Friend's Blog

When someone writes on a blog page, they certainly want people to read it, just like me. That's what I did to support fellow bloggers who had just jumped into this world.

I read some of my friends' blogs regarding a review of a book they read. When you read an article, the first thing you get is information. Of course when I read their blog, I get their review information about the books they read. They are very successful in inviting readers (like me) to read the full version of the book. They do it well.

Furthermore, I learned a lot about how to write a good article on the blog page. Also, I get some new vocabulary to improve my English skill.

And from me, the title is important. You must have criteria for which blog pages are more feasible to read first. The first thing I notice is the title. The title is the first thing I see because it is in the top of the blog or in the link. And that is a keyword so that many readers come to visit.
